About South Lindsay Baptist Church

We are "Fishers of Men" dedicated to evangelizing the world with the gospel message that Jesus saves. That is our only purpose.  We do this in one way; by building bridges. We are building bridges through share groups like Bible Study groups,  to Gamblers Anonymous, to providing G.E.D. classes through the Mid-Del School System, to men's and women's ministries. We also build bridges to students by sponsoring activities like missions studies, camps, excursions, and mission activities. We have a bus ministry and seek to sponsor community events that get people in our facilities for the gospel. This church is a working church. If you want a place to sit and stew go someplace else.

South Lindsay Baptist Church began as Ivanhoe Baptist Mission of Washington Avenue Baptist Church in 1924 and a year later became Lawrence Avenue Baptist Church. In 1955, after thirty plus years, the street known as Lawrence Avenue (that passed in front of the church) was changed by the city to South Lindsay Street, and the church, wanting to make it as easy as possible for visitors to find, decided to change the name of the church as well. What was known as Lawrence Avenue Baptist Church through the Great Depression and the first and second World War, officially became known as South Lindsay Baptist Church.

New facilities were added over the years to accommodate the growing number of new Christians being added to the kingdom, on the average 200 a year. In 1979, at Falls Creek (the world's largest Southern Baptist encampment) to handle the increasing number of youth that were attending South Lindsay, a state of the art facility was constructed to sleep 150 campers.

Because of our great heritage and through the leadership of great Christian leaders, an incredible work that was started on the corner of southeast 33rd and Lindsay continues to this day. Today, we have buildings and properties valued at over $3 million, all of which are totally debt free!

We also have raised over $50,000 in our legacy fund that will provide for our future.
