C. Wayne Childers is pastor of South Lindsay Baptist Church. He grew up in South Oklahoma City and was saved at Carey Heights Baptist Church under the ministry of Rev. Troy Groves. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1969 and worked on 29th street at John’s Garage with his Dad as a teen. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently working on a Dr. of Ministry Degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. His wife Laurie is a registered nurse at Integris Baptist Medical Center. He came to South Lindsay after a 12 year ministry as Vice President of Communication and Public Relations at The Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma. During that time he served as interim pastor of 12 churches including Immanuel, Duncan, College Heights, Chickasha, Immanuel, Weatherford and Snow Hill in Tuttle. He is involved in international missions through Church Renewal International a ministry of Dr. R. Bradley Jones.

Associate Pastor / Worship Leader
Tyrone Smith, former minister music and senior adults for Snow Hill Baptist Church of Tuttle for the past nine years has assumed the role of Associate Pastor and Worship leader at South Lindsay effective May 8, 2006. Tyrone brings to South Lindsay a wealth of experience with music and musicians. He is a member of the world renowned Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and has traveled with them to New York, China and Australia. Smith has also been involved in missions in the Philippines and has a heart for reaching people with the gospel.
He plans to develop a contemporary/traditional blend in worship involving many musicians and singers in a variety of musical praise experiences that give glory to God. He will also assist the pastor in continuing a strong emphasis on pastoral care that is the trademark of South Lindsay Baptist Church in its “Fishers of Men” motto.
He and his wife Vicky have served in full time evangelism and have led in a number of churches in central Oklahoma. He has been a public school educator in music and has had a wealth of experience in leading worship.
Long time friends with South Lindsay pastor C. Wayne Childers, Smith will immediately be a part of the team to lead South Lindsay to realize its vision.
