SAMARITAN BAPTIST CHURCH
|
Welcome to Samaritan Baptist Church. No, that is not our name but it is our goal. We want to be the church that helps robbed and beaten-up people.
Unlike those who see “that type” as a nuisance to avoid, we want to take on that challenge. Unlike those who see “them” as a problem to discuss, we want to help. Unlike those who see the “helpless” as suckers to exploit, we want to give.
The Samaritan did what God wants South Lindsay to do. He used his resources, time, emotional energy and effort to make a difference. We are making a difference and it is mostly on Monday and Wednesday, the day that most of our regulars never see at SLBC.
On Monday, the first day of the week, people from all walks of life are showing up to be helped with their addictions, their past and hurts. We are also working with children and using students to teach their younger counterparts. It is a training ground for our next generation.
On Wednesday, at midweek, children and youth from the community show up for activities and Bible study. We will be taking some of them to camp. It is our largest community outreach.
Let's not forget Friday game night. The last few to join our church have come from that outreach.
Then we have people using our facilities to get help with gambling and to train athletes to embrace their future with Jesus.
It is an effort that God is honoring and is the future of our church. So, welcome to SBC. You guys are truly good Samaritans. |

Shirley May (Claypool) Harraman went home on
November 13,2006 at the age of 84. She was a member of Camille Avenue Baptist
Church but made a tremendous mark on the ministry at South Lindsay. She was an
artist. She was a creative communicator. She put a colorful face to what was
going on at South Lindsay during its glory days. A part of what she did as
staff artist was to create a keepsake bulletin that people came to church just
to see what she would print next.
